The official extension has been approved and published. Chrome installs updates automatically for Store-installed extensions.

Official listing

How it works

One explicit action for each message.

Maillume never watches your inbox. You decide when the extension may read the visible message and when its contents are sent for assessment.

01

Open and capture

Open one message in Gmail or Outlook and click the Maillume toolbar icon. Selected text takes priority; otherwise Maillume reads the visibly open message when it can do so unambiguously.

02

Review the details

Check the captured subject, sender, and message text in the side panel. You remain in control before anything is analyzed.

03

Analyze and act

Start the analysis to receive the same explainable risk score, signals, and recommended next step as the web scanner.

Getting started

Connect the extension in four steps.

Before you start

  • Chrome 116 or newer
  • A Maillume account with two-factor authentication
  • A Gmail or Outlook webmail account for message capture
Open your Maillume account
  1. 01

    Add Maillume to Chrome

Open the official Chrome Web Store listing, choose Add to Chrome, and pin Maillume to the Chrome toolbar for easier access.

    Add to Chrome
  2. 02

    Open a message

Open one message in Gmail or Outlook and click the Maillume icon to open the side panel.

  3. 03

    Connect this browser

Choose Connect this browser. Sign in to Maillume, review the browser request, and approve it with two-factor authentication. No API key needs to be copied.

  4. 04

    Analyze deliberately

Return to the side panel, review the captured subject, sender, and text, then choose Analyze message.

Using the extension

Review every message before analysis.

  1. 01Open a message in Gmail or Outlook.
  2. 02Click the Maillume toolbar icon. Select text first if you only want to assess that selection.
  3. 03Use current message whenever you move to another email while the side panel remains open.
  4. 04Review the captured subject, sender, and message text.
  5. 05Choose Analyze message and use the explanation and next step to make your own decision.

Privacy and permissions

Temporary access, visible boundaries.

No background scanning

The extension acts only after you click it and does not crawl or monitor your mailbox.

No stored messages or results

Captured message content and completed assessments are not written to extension storage or Maillume scan history.

One revocable browser connection

This Chrome profile receives its own credential. Reconnecting replaces it, and you can revoke the browser from your Maillume account at any time.

Deployment-specific permission

Chrome asks for access only to the Maillume deployment you choose. Removing the connection also removes that access.

Updates and removal

Chrome handles updates automatically.

Store-installed extensions receive updates through Chrome. To disconnect, choose Remove connection in the side panel. You can remove the extension at any time from Chrome's extension settings, while the source remains public for inspection.

Troubleshooting

Two common setup messages.

01

Connection not configured

Open Connection settings and choose Connect this browser. Sign in, approve the request, and return to the side panel.

02

More than one message is expanded
